Hair Removal

Humans have had an issue with excess hair for many years. Flint razors have even been found that date back thousands of years to the time of the cave-dwellers, and archaeologists have even discovered obsidian shaving tools that have been dated to be around 4000 years old. As well as shaving excess hair, other methods have been used and are still being used, such as plucking, waxing and needle epilation. All these methods have a drawback – shaving, plucking and waxing are all only temporary where as needle epilation is only capable of treating one individual hair at a time.

Excess hair can also be the result of a medical conditions, but the social pressure to remove it may be cosmetic. Culturally expected norms and peer group pressure often requires the removal of excess hair in certain regions of the body such as the face, armpits, legs and bikini line for women and the chest and back for men.

FAQ's

#1 How Does Our Hair Removal Work?

For long-lasting or even permanent hair reduction, it is necessary to completely destroy hair follicles out of which the individual hairs grow. Controlled pulses of laser light penetrate the upper layer of the skin and are absorbed by the body’s natural chemical melanin – within the hair that is inside the follicle.

#2 Does It Hurt?

Your skin type is the fundamental factor that affects this – specifically the level of pigmentation in the skin. Pain tolerance varies between different people and also between different hair removal machines. We use a variety of machines including “no-pain” machines. The sensation of each machine is completely different. No anaesthetic is needed, and people describe the sensation as being similar to an elastic band snapping on their skin.

#3 How Many Treatments Do I Need?

Hair grows in three cycles. Our machines can only successfully treat hair during the first, growth stage. You usually need a course of three to six treatments with six to eight weeks between each session, then repeat as and when hair returns.

#4 Can All Hairs Be Treated?

We are able to treat all skin and all hair types.

#5 Do I Need To Take Special Precautions Before & After The Treatment?

It is important not to undergo any other hair removal for at least a month before your appointment. You must also refrain from using other hair removal treatments during your course of treatment. The same applies to sun treatments, as tanning raises the amount of pigment in your skin affects the treatment’s success.

#6 How Long Does The Treatment Take?

The glass prism in the AW3 applicator which guides the light to the skin is just 15mm by 50mm, so a large area is targeted in each flash of laser light. Our system has the biggest spot size on the market and it is the only system that auto flashes without a delay. This mean a full leg treatment takes 15-30 minutes compared to 90 minutes elsewhere.
